TOPH BEI FONG
THIRTEEN * FEMALE * N/A * EARTH * EARTH KINGDOM
THIRTEEN * FEMALE * N/A * EARTH * EARTH KINGDOM
THE PERSON-
Toph is a very abrasive person who is both blunt and tomboyish. These traits are paired with the marvel of her being an extremely strong earthbending master, having created metalbending seemingly spontaneously while trying to escape captivity. Her strength is the opposite of her appearance- she is a small girl of thirteen. Toph is not afraid to say exactly what she thinks on most subjects (the exception being love, which she ignores), and tends to be loud-spoken and outgoing. She has an amazing sense of hearing to make up for her blindness, and because she can also sense things with her earthbending, most people forget or do not figure out that she is, in fact, blind, and has been that way since birth.
Though she acts opposite to the way her parents attempted to bring her up, Toph grew up in a very sheltered environment in Gaoling. She always hated the life she was forced to live; because of her blindness her parents kept her a secret from the world, and were afraid of her getting hurt or not being able to take care of herself. She ran away at a young age and lived for a short time in a cave of badgermoles, where she learned earthbending. Her parents had an earthbending teacher come and teach Toph only basic things, though secretly, Toph was already an earthbending master.
Toph loved to fight and won an earthbending championship, Earth Rumble, more than once under the alias of the Blind Bandit. She was discovered there by the Avatar and his friends and soon ended up going with him on his adventure. This was for two reasons. She was to teach him earthbending, but also, she wanted to escape her parents and the life she hated. She did end up sending them a letter, but otherwise, had no further contact with them. After many adventures with the Avatar, Toph ended up helping save the world from the wrath of the former Fire Lord, Ozai, and soon after, she began thinking about making a metalbending school. As for now, she is merely staying in the fire nation.
THE PLAYER-
ELE * SIXTEEN * FOURFor once in her life since this whole adventure began, Toph sat in silence. Actual silence- and not the kind where she plotted something interesting or was steaming about something that irritated her, or even out of boredom. This was the exact kind of silence she hated the most- this was the silence that provoked thought. Even worse, it was the types of thoughts she didn't quite enjoy thinking about- her parents.
She hadn't thought about them in a while. It must have just been because of everything that had been happening lately. Even now she was busy at least in her thoughts, thinking of perhaps going back to the Earth Kingdom and starting up a metalbending school, but it was still more relaxing than a race against time to get Aang ready to face the fire lord. Or, really, the ex-fire lord. Zuko was the new fire lord. He was doing a pretty good job, supposedly. He was really busy though. Everyone was in their own way, she supposed. Even so, it was so relaxing compared to how it had been for them.
Except that it provoked less than welcome thoughts.
She hadn't spoken to them since she left. She'd sent a letter- that was it. She wondered if they still worried about her- if they still cared. Toph wasn't one to worry. It seemed like only her parents could provoke such a thought, such an emotion as worry. Should she send them another letter? Surely they'd heard about what had happened, though, and she must have been part of the news. Would they recognize this strong war hero as their daughter, if the story did reach them as such? Would they even want to know, or care, if she was all right?
A long sigh escaped her as she sat outside in the garden of the palace, underneath the shade of a tree. They were all there frequently, staying there or there for business- the palace. Zuko's palace. That was odd to say. She felt the grass in her toes, trying to move her thoughts elsewhere and think of something more interesting. Her fingers fiddled slightly, making little pieces of earth rise and fall, and other pieces changing shape and floating around. Perhaps she should go train somewhere, or bother Sokka, wherever he was. That could get her mind off these unwelcome thoughts, couldn't it? And yet, here she sat, the thoughts still brewing through her mind, and not having any intention to go away.
